Moving Forward Together: Our Branch’s Next Chapter

As we transition away from our longstanding book sale tradition, we find ourselves at an important crossroads. While change can be challenging, it also presents us with an opportunity to reimagine how our small but mighty branch can continue to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Where We Are Today

Let’s be candid about our current situation:

– We are a small branch of 25 members, with varying levels of active participation
– The conclusion of our book sale partnership with Altrusa marks the end of a significant chapter in our branch’s history
– We have some financial resources but limited volunteer capacity
– Many members express interest in community-focused programming but hesitate to take on leadership roles

This is our reality, and it’s important we acknowledge it openly. The quality and frequency of our future programs will directly reflect the level of involvement each of us chooses to commit.

An Invitation to Engagement

As your president, I am committed to guiding us through this transition. Our branch’s vitality depends on shared responsibility.

I invite each of you to reflect on what you value most about our AAUW branch and consider what specific contribution—however small—you might make in the coming year. Taking responsibility for one meeting, one speaker arrangement, or one partnership conversation would collectively create a meaningful program for our branch.

Together, we can write the next chapter of AAUW Fond du Lac’s story—one that honors our past while creating a sustainable path forward.

With optimism and determination,

Fanny
